Unfortunately, most consumers cannot fully appreciate the stone in its original form. Some Zimbabwe black granite in the market has been flamed and honed. Flaming melts the surface of the stone, resulting in highly textured and non-slippery surface; honing is a polishing process that provides the stone with a matte look. After the flaming and honing, the granite will appear gray instead of black. To make the stone darker, the granite will have to be treated with dye and enhancing sealers.
